Mastering Your Vibe

3 Steps to Creating Your Experience

Set the tone and keep it going, go with the flow, don’t rock the boat. We have all heard variations of these phrases and they probably seem pretty simple and obvious.

Well, the concept is obvious and it is also simple. At the same time, it is surprisingly not obvious and not simple!

I realized the true beauty of this when I was trying create the perfect vacation recently during a visit home to Northern California. It was a much needed break from the routine.

I knew that I had the power to create a vibe and to create my reality during this trip. I was plenty aware of the effect of my intentions, thoughts, words, and actions on the experience at hand. This was a special time to get away from everything and be zen in a new moment for a few days and I was hyper-conscious to ensure the best time would be had.

My five year old wasn’t quite on the same page. Five year old kids don’t really have a strong grasp of reality, let alone the power of consciousness and creation with choice. Who can blame them?!

The first morning of our trip, this five year old child of mine was throwing a semi chaotic fit over something trivial. Note, this child is particularly sensitive and emotional and even the most trivial thing can send him into a downward spiral.

I addressed his loud and somewhat confusing struggle the same way I always do. Down on one knee at eye level, I began to explain the necessity of the vibe we, as a family, were trying to create for this trip. I explained that when we set this vibe, we must all work together not to ruin it. Thankfully, he understood.

As I explained, I understood better as well, as if speaking my previously internal intention actually made it clearer for even myself.

The best part about the spoken and agreed upon teaching was that it worked. The trip was nice and slow, the moments came and went smoothly, nothing was rushed and nothing was stressful; We all had the perfect vacation (Mission Accomplished).

I will share this teaching in the form of steps. Because, let’s face it, we all like steps.

Step 1: Understand That You Are Responsible for Your Experiences

This is paramount.

There are a lot of great sources out there for understanding this concept in more detail but the basic idea is that our choices shape our reality.

For example, when I make choices out of love and goodness, my experience is a product of love and goodness. When I make choices out of fear and corruption, my experience is a product of fear and corruption.

Reality is that which we see when we open our eyes and that which we think and feel when we perceive with our minds. It is all that we know.

Knowing that I have the ability to perceive life any way I want based on the state of my conscious mind changes everything. If I am aware and awake and willing to accept myself for the powerful being that I am, I can literally choose the experiences I want to have. I can choose to react with understanding or I can choose to react with hate and judgement.

The effect of our choice of reaction ripples out into the Universe and alters our reality.

Step 2: Create the Vibe You Want

What kind of vibe do you want? Do you want a light, happy vibe where nothing gets too deep and the day goes by like the breeze? Do you want a deep, heavy vibe where you are learning and sensing and having space and quiet? Do you want a vibe where everything is crazy and loud and out of control?

Think about it and figure it out. It shouldn’t take too long if you have a pretty good idea of what you like. Once you know what that vibe is, create it. Do everything in your power to make it happen.

During the aforementioned vacation, I wanted a vibe of happiness, fun, and ease. So, I created that vibe by remaining positive, being mindful about my reactions, and having fun. Having fun meaning I didn’t second guess myself when the opportunity arose to engage in a fun activity. If jumping into the pool right away looked fun, I did it. I didn’t worry about the time and I didn’t think of what I should do, I just did the fun thing.

Step 3: Whatever You Do, Don’t Ruin The Vibe

See the vibe as something fragile and sacred that mustn’t be tossed around or misplaced.

If I start to feel irritable or overwhelmed, I take a moment to feel the feeling and get to the root of what I need right then and then take care of those needs. If I want to do something that no one else wants to do, I wait for a better time and try again or just assume it isn’t meant to be and enjoy the current moment.

I’m not suggesting that anyone stuffs their emotions and slaps on a fake smile. Trust me, I am a strong believer of allowing bad days and bad moments to happen.

What I am suggesting takes soul power. It takes awareness and heightened consciousness.

The idea is simply to stick with your intention and to stand behind the creation of your experience.

To try and do this everyday would be beautiful and amazing and we could honestly all benefit if we brought this with us into our daily lives.

However, life itself is typically much longer than a week or so long vacation and it can be a little trickier to create a forever vibe and stick with it long-term.

Creating a vibe and promising yourself not to tamper with it, is a simple yet effective way to experience life at it’s fullest and to your liking. There will always be things that come up to test your loyalty to yourself during the time you are fostering the vibe, but rest assured that we all have the strength it takes to power through to the other side.

By choosing your thoughts,
and by selecting which emotional currents you will release
and which you will reinforce,
you determine the quality of your Light.
You determine the effects that you will have upon others,
and the nature of the
experiences of your life.
